Academy of Our Lady Board of Specified Jurisdiction
In 2005, Catholic grammar schools serving Waukegan and North Chicago merged to form The Academy of Our Lady, located on the campus of Immaculate Conception, 510 Grand Ave., Waukegan. Since that merger the Board has been personally committed to assist in providing the support and resources necessary to make the school successful. The Board is charged with two primary responsibilities, setting policies for the school that support quality Catholic education for children 3 through 13 years of age and to provide the structure and process to ensure the financial security and future of the institution.
AOL believes that a child’s academic possibilities should not be based on their parents’ financial status. Being able to offer families the necessary scholarship subsidy allows us to positively impact the most vulnerable children in the community, providing them with a solid education and a firm faith foundation. In that spirit, we help families overcome the economic obstacles that prohibit their children from obtaining a quality Catholic based education. The ultimate goal is to level the playing field so that more at risk children can graduate from eighth grade and enter high school prepared to succeed.
Because of the concern and generosity of many supporters we have been able to keep tuition costs low through the much-needed scholarship assistance program while simultaneously increasing the services and level of education we provide. Through your generosity, your support has helped open a library, a new reading programs, new computers for an updated computer lab, new lap tops for all teachers, 32 new lap top computers on two portable carts for in classroom use, new science lab for the upper grades and thirteen new interactive ‘white boards’ throughout the school.
AOL has proven that with our dedicated staff, parents and volunteers in partnership with our Board and financial supporters we are providing a quality Catholic education for families in need in the Waukegan/North Chicago communities. Your support will help us continue to grow, improve our curriculum and provide the education and spiritual formation that is necessary for our children to succeed in their futures.
